Default Self test for a broken foot?

The middle of my foot has been hurt for about 35 hours now.

Last night it wasn't so bad, but I took many aspirin and iced it well.

Today, it's worse, as far as I can't walk on it for more than a couple steps.

The thing that makes me think it's NOT broken is I can touch it and massage it and it hurts, but it's not SUPER painful.

My wife wants me to go to the hospital but I am thinking there should be some sort of self test.

If a bone were broken wouldn't it hurt like hell to touch it?

Any help would be appreciated.

(And yes, I googled it)

There are like a hundred little bones in your foot so you could probably break one and it wouldn't be super obvious. Take a look at WebMD and see what they say, but really, unless you have no insurance you should just have it looked at. Regardless of the outcome you'll most likely get better pain killers than you have now.

It was a small fracture of the tibia, at the base, not displaced. Got some drugs. All is good.

They say SIX weeks to heal?

What the heck?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottawa_ankle_rules

That is, if you can locate these sites on your foot...
These are only guidelines to determine the need for an X-ray, not necessarily to confirm a broken bone.
