Deep in 20-180 DISGUSTING meltdown with AK
We are at final two tables of a 20-180. No reads on Villain who has been at the table for two orbits and hasn't played a hand yet. Level is 500-1000 with a 100 ante. I tried to make a big enough raise to tell him I meant business, but he flat calls, then leads with the weakest bet I've ever seen. I raised with the idea of folding out all the mid-pocket pairs and other random hands without a jack. I also thought it was possible I had the best hand. Was it wrong to raise vs. the weak lead here? Did I lay down the best hand? Re: Deep in 20-180 DISGUSTING meltdown with AK
When people min bet into you, it's either a weak hand or a monster tempting you to do this. If you want to bluff raise him, you can prolly get away with making it 4500 since his range is polarized.
Also, your preflop raise is to big, just make it 3000. |

Re: Deep in 20-180 DISGUSTING meltdown with AK
Wow.
Why are you raising 5xBB here from the button? We are only making the pot sweeter when we still have to make a hand. We fold almost exactly the same hands with a smaller bet, but keep the pot much more manageable. As for the flop, if villain makes a total donkish small bet, the best play is not to play back, but to flat call if we think we still have odds to make a hand, and if we dont believe him, bet him on the turn when he checks, or if we do believe he has a hand and is just trying to entice us to play with his small bets then we call the flop, check behind on the turn, and possibly get to a showdown our ace high. At least then we see two more cards also. At the point where you are betting, we are not likely folding small pairs, he likely thinks we have what we have.. a whiffed ace king/AQ. When a guy who hasnt played a hand in two orbits FLAT CALLS from the worst position, he has cards he isnt folding. 4Card |
