Default 44 from the SB

Hi, I'm trying to find mistakes in my game and I recently ran into this hand. After reviewing the hand I'm not sure if I played it right. Stats on my opponent are as follows: 29/10 out of 154 hands. Full Tilt 0.25/0.5 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop:
4 folds, SB raises, BB 3-bets, SB calls.

Flop: (7.40 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, BB bets, SB raises, BB calls.

Turn: (5.70 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, BB checks.

River: (5.70 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets, BB raises, SB folds.

Final Pot: 7.70 BB
I think my biggest mistake was folding on the river. At the time I felt that there was no way I wasn't beat and I was saving myself a bet. After reviewing the hand though I feel like I should have at least called because of the size of the pot. I'm not a very good player and am trying to improve my game. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Also note that although it says it was 6-handed it was at a full ring table. 3 people had just left simultaneously.

ok so i assume ur the person in the SB here. theres no reason to b/f this river. i think if anything we are going to c/c if not c/f.

i also am getting the suspission hero really didnt have 44 pf and in face had a different hand becuase it is blacked out. its obvious to me that villian more than likely rivered a flush. i wouldnt ever bet into someoen when a draw completes and they advertise a free card play on the flop. but thats just me

Thanks for your input. I didn't even realize that was blacked out. I obv. used the hand converter wrong doh. It's like my 2nd or 3rd time using one. I'm not even sure what purpose posting a hand and pretending your hole cards are different would serve. I can assure you though it was folded to me in the small blind where I raised preflop with 44.

yeah, that was a pointless bet. The card that came on the river was a really bad card as well. I guess I was just hoping it was a bad card for my opponent.

One on one blind battles are not easy, espescially if you are the SB and the BB decides to fight back !

When the BB 3-bet you pf, I think that you can almost have decided how to play your hand if you did not spike a set on the flop.

Unless the BB 3-bet pf with a higher pocket pair, (for which the odds are unlikely), then your small pocket pair should win a showdown approx. 55% of the time.

Also, it is going to be very difficult to know where you are on the flop, because most of the time you will be looking at overcards.

So, I would probably adopt a check/call approach to showdown and hope for the best. Thats the least expensive route if you dont win.

You could also decide to check/fold if an A or K fell postflop, but that would probably be risky, as those cards would look as scary to your opponent as they would to you, if he did not have either of them.

So, I would probably just c/c c/c c/c unless you make a set.
