Default Light reading suggestions: An easy read for the work commute

I've seen a lot of "book suggestion" type threads on here, but never one that discussed light reading.

I typically spend about 30 minutes each day on a subway commuting to work. Instead of listening to my iPod, I've gotten into the habit of reading books. Considering all of the commotion on the train, I obviously can't read a very in depth book that requires a lot of concentration/thought. Does anyone have any suggestions for relatively simple and entertaining light reading that isn't necessarily intended for the tween demographic.

A few excamples of books I've recently read that fit this description:

"Bringing Down the House" by Ben Mezrich

"Winterdance: The Fine Madness of Running the Iditarod" by Gary Paulsen

Any good suggestions, OOT?

How about this leaflet, "Famous Jewish Sports Legends."

Seriously, have you ever read "High Fidelity"? Very funny and very easy to read. I'd also recommend "The Pleasure of My Company" by Steve Martin (yes the actor).

I somtimes read a newspaper when I forget to bring my book (AM New York is given out for free). I find that it's mostly advertising and poorly written articles. Besides, I get all of my news from cnn.com (although the current head article is titled "'She-Male' Leads Prisoners in Dance". WTF)

If you're not afraid of silly book-covers and a fantasy-setting, I'd recommend Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. Exremely clever and funny series somewhat reminiscent of Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker books.

someone beat me to it - his books read like movies, are entertaining, and you could easily read 2 books a week.
