I also don't mind calling here in position either. When i first looked at the postflop action, i thought obv overpair, nothing else takes a line like this. The only part of the hand i don't like is your flop raise...it's too small. If u think that you are ahead and u would like to get the money in now...raise more - at least 750-1000. If he's leading weak w a draw, he's never folding for 400 more. Raising more here also widens your range and a hand like 88 might put u on a FD and get it in. As played i think folding is fine...and make a note to always play SC's against this guy's raises in the future b/c he won't protect his big hands. |

Please use a converter: [/ QUOTE ] !!! [ QUOTE ] I think this is a terrible fold. You get pot odds of 1:5! and hold an overpair to the board. A call commits you to the pot - so push. [/ QUOTE ] That is not quite correct. If Hero pushes (which he obviously had to do) and Villain calls, the overall pot odds are slightly 2.6:1. Hero has no real chances anymore to improve his hand (2 outs) but has to be ahead more than about 30%. What should Villain raise preflop, c-bet and 3-bet the flop here what Hero beats? AK maybe (more likely A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]), AQ, A9 are unlikely, TT could be. These are not many hands/chances. QQ, KK, AA indeed are very probable here. That are 18 possibilities for overpairs, but only 6 for TT and some (discounted) additional possibilities for overcards which may even draw to the flush. No great deal. And notice one further sign: Villain did essentially commit himself to the pot without pushing!! This screams for a call imho. What speaks against (at least unsuited) overcards as well ... |
