Default 77 as second pair in 3bet pot - can I call river?

NL400, 4-handed.

Hero is UTG with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and $394; playing SLAG.
SB is 28/12/2(150) and covers; a mediocre reg.

Hero raises to $16, BTH folds, SB raises to $28, Hero calls.

Flop 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($57.50)

SB checks, Hero bets $45, SB calls quickly.

Turn 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($147.50)

SB checks, Hero checks.

River 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($147.50)

SB bets $100, Hero...?

Hasn't he fancy-played whatever holding he has? Except maybe something like JT?

Is his line just too weird to be a bluff?

[/ QUOTE ]We don't mind taking it down if he has overs as his equity against us is still good? And we hate quite a lot of turn and river cards, don't we?

I thought the same way, that is is a fold; I put villain on a weak J who did pot control on the flop and turn and on the river realized he may as well get some value.

Hero, on the other hand, didn't think villain had much, called and villain had AK.

Hero was tufat in one of his CR videos.

I felt like the TAGfish that I am.

What is the logic behind making that call? Does that just come with talent or experience? Or is there an explainable thought process where you end up deciding your hand is good often enough here?
