cool limit spot, sucks in NL?
I only have 30 hands and villain is 28/18/1.8. He has been sort of active from late positions but only one sd where he open raised 4xbb from btn w/KJo, sb with half the stack of btn donks JT9 HU and btn raised AI.
We both have 100bb, he open raises in co and HU I call JTo/bb. Flop is J9xr. Is JTo a defending hand here? Do I b-f flops like this? c-r/fold to reraise? c-c smallish bets? |

Re: cool limit spot, sucks in NL?
Realize this: if you bet/fold here it doesn't matter what your hand is. CR sucks since we don't have a hand we want to bloat the pot with. Check call looking pretty good.

Re: cool limit spot, sucks in NL?
Backing up a bit, I think this is a fold, PF. I mean, you got about as good a flop as you could wish for, and you're still lost...JTs gives you just enough flops you can play aggro to make it a call I think (consider that say this flop came down J9x with one of your suit, you now have all kinds of things to do aggressively, and you are unlikely to be in terrible shape vs. his range...)

Re: cool limit spot, sucks in NL?
Seth,
Saying, "you got about as good a flop as you could wish for, and you're still lost" is as much an indictment of the player as it is the hand. Especially at lower limits, we'll know exactly what to do on the turn. |

[/ QUOTE ] You're right of course, that said, the fact that we're going to have to fold to the second barrel makes me wonder how we can profitably make this call preflop. |

Sorry for bumping, but are we done discussing this one?
DD: What is your play on turn after c-c? RunDownHouse: [ QUOTE ] Especially at lower limits, we'll know exactly what to do on the turn. [/ QUOTE ] ...and that is? Donking blanks? cc again? cr? |

Re: cool limit spot, sucks in NL?
Check/fold to any big bet on the turn, check/call a tiny bet, hope he checks behind so we can value bet the river or check again and hope he makes a retarded bluff. We don't want to play any sort of big pot here and yes its highly exploitable by people who two barrel (hint you should two barrel more against decent players). You can balance this somewhat by slowplaying on dry boards like this but really its just one of those things where the standard play is highly exploitable so against a tough guy you sometimes need to grit your teeth and check/call every street just to show him you can.

Re: cool limit spot, sucks in NL?
fold pf. if he wants to steal blinds, let him steal some blinds. if he has success he'll keep doing it. it sets up a nice situation later. blind defense is far less important in NL than it is in limit.
give up some blind money now, trap him and win alot of money later. |
