It had to happen to me sooner or later I guess.

Did I misplay any streets though?

UTG is maniac 71/41/3
Button was 50/3/0.6

turn bet/call tells me you should check call the river.
river bet/call tells me you should 3-bet the turn.

so you did something wrong.

also, AA doesn't win every time, and yes, 72 can make two pair.

Agreed. It's the only way to get 4 bets in. You risk going 5 by 3betting the turn, but it's the only way to get button to pay for his draw.

vs a maniac this is an easy turn 3bet. c/c river if he caps. Bet river if he calls.

Against a true maniac (i.e. known to cap flops with air or TP or an overpair) I'm inclined to 3-bet the turn, actually. Doubly so since you've got button padding the pot.

If he caps, I check call the river.
