Default Choctaw Casino Durant OK

I'm curious what the place is like. I won't go to Winstar after all the bad things I've heard. Is Choctaw any good? What are the games like? What games do they spread? I went to thier website but all the showed was special promotions and upcoming tournaments.

Choctaw is lucky to get 2/5 NLHE going. It's mostly 4/8 LHE and 1/2 NLHE. If you want to play anything bigger in NLHE, it's Winstar. If you want to play anything other than HE, well, go to Winstar and hope for an Omaha game.

Winstar's not the death of anything. Give it a shot and decide for yourself, unless one is closer than the other.

Choctaw typically has 2/5 going all weekend and sometimes Wed and Thu nights. I have seen 5/10 running there once and 2/5 PLO running there once.

The reason they don't spread higher games is because people don't go there and ask for them. If we got enough 2+2ers together, I bet we could really change that room for the better.

I have only heard the other end of the story. Taking trip time out of the equation, why would anyone go to Choctaw for cash game action? Winstar has a plenty of room and lots of tables going at all times. The normal Winstar tourneys are total crapshoots, as are most in that price range at a casino. I mostly play 1/2NL & 2/5NL, should I be going to Choctaw?

The atmosphere is so much more relaxed at Choctaw. They have hot waitresses. Their rake is $1 less and they don't take the BBJ $1 until after the flop. They have much better dealers in my opinion. Pretty much everything except the stakes you can play at is better at Choctaw.

I guess I really don't understand your question. I don't know if you should be going there or not. But if you have two options on anything, why intentionally restrict yourself to one?

I suppose the short answer to "why would anyone go to Choctaw?" is "to see if they like it better". Simple as that.

Personally, I was annoyed by the dealer and floor arrogance at Winstar (and the long waits before the new room opened), so I tried Choctaw and liked it much better. I still go to Winstar during the week and for Omaha, but for standard weekend 1/2 and 2/5, I prefer Choctaw.

I've spent a lot of time at both of them and greatly prefer Winstar. I like the dealers better, and think the games are softer as well. The last thing I want to do is drive to Choctaw, get in the 1 2/5 game going, have it suck, and be stuck playing on a horrible table for the entire trip.

The one advantage to Choctaw IMO is the attached hotel makes things easy. But after staying in the Hampton Inn next to Winstar during the Red River Roundup, it's a pretty moot point.

There's a Hampton Inn next to Winstar? I thought it was a Microtel and the rooms were like $99/night.

I haven't played at Winstar but I'm a regular at the Choctaw.

The games they have are NLHE (1/2 and 2/5), Limit(4/8), and they sometimes play 2/5 PLO (hi/lo). The 2/5 games can sometimes break-up rather quickly if a few people get busted out.

Floor: Larry is good but watch out for that nitwit Craig.
Action: The action is good. I cashed out a $1300 one weekend playing NLHE 1/2. Sometimes it is possible to get stuck playing at a table of rocks but this doesn't happen too often.
Hotel: Two cheap hotels right next to casino. Rates are $70 a night. If you want want to stay a week...the card room will comp you two nights....

Rake is cheaper since BBJ is taken after the flop...
