Projectors for poker
Anyone here use a projector to play poker? How good are they as an alternative to a giant plasma/lcd? I'm thinking of possibly getting one to replace my dual 24" monitor setup. I rarely use both of them for poker these days because the neck twisting motion is killing me, and the office chair is killing my back, it would be nice to lay in my bed and play using wireless kb/mouse. What are my options for under $1500 that can fit at least 6 tables?

Re: Projectors for poker
What about this one?
http://www.canadacomputers.com/index...mp;cid=333.249 Product Features: Native XGA(1024x768) and maximum resolutions of UXGA (1600 x 1200), 720p, and 1080i Does that mean it can go up to 1600x1200 or am I interpreting it incorrectly? |

Re: Projectors for poker
It looks to me like that projector is capable of down-converting 1080 vertical line signals, not displaying 1080 lines itself.

Anyone here use a projector to play poker? [/ QUOTE ] I looked into this as an option. Short of spending tens of thousands of dollars on a 1600x1200 (or 1920x1200) projector, it is not feasible. Your best option would be to have an ordinary monitor, and then also a 800x600 projector, and use MTH or some AHK script to move the active table to the projector. Or just buy a series of 20" 1600x1200 monitors and downgrade the resolutions on all of them to 800x600. [ QUOTE ] How good are they as an alternative to a giant plasma/lcd? [/ QUOTE ] The lamp life will be an issue for this sort of use. [ QUOTE ] I'm thinking of possibly getting one to replace my dual 24" monitor setup. You can get a monitor stand from somewhere like http://www.skunkworks.com.au and set it all up properly, and sit back in an armchair. [/ QUOTE ] That'll do more damage to your back than sitting in a decent chair - i know, 'cause i had that problem a few weeks ago.
