Default 100 NL - Hero flops set and is considering folding?

I'm the first one to advicate that you should never fold a set. Well, never say never.

SB is a bit of a donk
BB is solid, tight over a small sample size
MP2 is a solid reg. i have him running 19/9.5/3.5 over 1300 hands

OnGame's Room No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (7 handed) by Hand Converter CG

Hero ($97.50)
SB ($100.50)
BB ($183.65)
UTG ($100.25)
MP1 ($9.80)
MP2 ($218.95)
CO ($53.25)

Hero is dealt [3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]]

Preflop: is with
UTG calls $1, 1 fold, MP2 calls $1, 1 fold, calls $1, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($5) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB bets $2.5, BB bets $8, UTG folds, MP2 bets $26, Hero scratches his head.

I flop a set and i'm facing 3bets. MP2 bet is the most concerning. I would think he normally raises TT or 99, but the table has been playing passive and i don't think he wants to stick in a raise and play this hand OOP. The only other had he could have is an OESD, but he wouldn't do that here.

How about top 2 is that in his range here?

Wouldn't a 19/9.5 raise PF with TT/99?

Yeah this looks like 2 pair

Edit: Especially if the table is playing passive, wouldn't his range increase?

I really think top two is a huge part of MP2's range. Over-limping in the hijack with TT or 99 seems unlikely, although possible, of course.

BB could have any two pair as he got a free look. BB and MP2 are both pretty deep, so maybe MP2's trying to put pressure on big blind.

If this board was like 378 instead of 39T I'd be more concerned about a set from MP2. Maybe it doesn't make much of a difference, though. I go broke here either way.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't consider top 2. T9s would definitely be a possible hand to limp in.

What threw me in the hand was the action. MP2 is showing a lot of strength and i convinced myself i was beat and folded. Everyone else folded as well so i don't know what he had.

No offense, but why would you not consider T9 here? That's the hand you're most likely to see, IMO.
