5/10 baseball at the Monte Carlo!
Walked into the Monte Carlo at 3.30 am on saturday to discover a game of 5/10 baseball on the go. game consisted of three men who knew the cardroom mmanagement and got them to spread it, three off duty dealers and me deciding it was way more fun than a rather dull 1/2NL table. Played to a pretty high standard with a couple of very experienced stud players in it. I was -$50 in about an hours play. Strangely, we couldn't persuade them to pay out the stud high hand bonues in the game...
Props to the Monte Carlo for spreading it. I think a lot of places would refuse claiming it was not real poker. |

WTF is this baseball thing? [/ QUOTE ] 7 card stud. If I remember correctly, 3's and 9's are wild and if you are dealt a 4 showing you get an extra card down. Needless to say, in a full 7 or 8 handed game, the average winning hand is like 4 of a kind. |

Is it even legal for them to spread this?

Seriously, I'm not sure if it is. But I don't see why not. [/ QUOTE ] Specific poker games must be approved by the gaming commission, at least in AC. I think that's the case in Vegas also since the Wynn declined to spread Badugi recently. Jeff |

Re: 5/10 baseball at the Monte Carlo!
My dad is the only person who will play baseball with me. I dont think it will be seen again since very few know what it is.
Alot of places have War. And the table is often full |

nightgame?
Was it spread as nightgame (roll your own) or were the cards dealt up?
If dealt a 4, could you buy an extra card for $5? |

Re: 5/10 baseball at the Monte Carlo!
You can find Nevada Gaming regulations at http://gaming.nv.gov/stats_regs.htm
As far as I can see, it uses a broad definition for card games (Regulation 1, 1.060) [ QUOTE ] a game in which the licensee is not party to wagers and from which the licensee receives compensation in the form of a rake-off, a time buy-in, or other fee or payment from a player for the privilege of playing, and includes but is not limited to the following: Poker, bridge, whist, solo and panguingui [/ QUOTE ] Regulation 23 covers card rooms, but is concerned with collection of rake, use of shills, etc. It does not proscribe what card games can be offered. |

Jeff [/ QUOTE ] I know there are regs as you say in AC, but I think LV rooms are nearly unregulated as far as how the card game plays. I know the MGM floor told me once that he'd spread old maid if we could find a way for him to rake it. They spread HORSE, HORPSE (w/Pineapple or C. Pinapple), doubleflop, and razz there at the MGM, so why not other variants? |
