Default 3/6 - QQ gross river

Villain is tonoavail. I can't remember stats, but to me he seems to be too loose postflop. He's willing to call down with lots of light holdings. So far this session he hasn't really gotten out of line in any pots with me, probably because I've been getting cards against him.

He played the hand in such a way as to lead me to believe he has a pretty weak holding. The range I'd give him is Jx, 88-TT, or around there. The river is a pretty bad card, but if he's willing to call 2 barrels with a mid pair, he'll most likely call a 3rd, right? Of the options available to me, I feel like shove > check/fold > check/call. At least with a shove, I can probably get value out of 88. But if I check and he bets, I doubt he's turning 88 into a bluff, which makes me feel like if I check/call, I'm just getting taken to valuetown. Thoughts?

given your thoughts on the hand you should probably bet the river:

if you check, worse hands check behind and better hands are betting so check/call is obviously negative freeroll.
so if you feel you got the best put it in!

Bet a bit more on the flop and turn and you have an easy shove. As played I don`t really know what to do. I can see c/calling, c/folding and pushing depending on recent history. Your bet sizing got you in a messy spot here.

Uh... doesn't that make this a check/fold? Also, negative freeroll? WTF?

I don't really agree that its a negative freeroll, but his point is just that check calling is bad here. I vilian was deeper so bet folding was a little easier. But I think you need to bet this river, and fold if he shoves.

Checking allows him to play perfectly on the river, unless you think he's really likely to bluff shove when its obvious that you don't have a J.

Bet $100 on the river. Fold to a raise.
