Here is another reason why I lose my ass at 200NL
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (6 handed) pokerhand.org hand converter
UTG ($69.50) MP ($257.65) CO ($190) Hero ($237.95) SB ($192.05) BB ($197) Preflop: Hero is Button with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. 3 folds, Hero raises to $8, 1 fold, BB calls $6. Flop: ($17) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets $12, BB calls $12. Turn: ($41) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets $28, BB raises to $74, Hero folds. Final Pot: $143 opponent is 23/10/1.8 ok i should bet more on the flop......blah blah....just assume i did and the rest is the same. one train of thought says bet to price out draws. another says check and control size of pot, letting all draws hit. another says don't get pushed around AAR IN. all of these options suck. which one should i chose? |

Re: Here is another reason why I lose my ass at 200NL
I'll sound pretty boring but this is standard for me too. Both your hands are standard IMO. Checking behind here lets him valuebet the river while seeing another card for free. Once he calls/raise the $28 bet on the turn I'm finished with that hand UI.
It is true that betting there with that reasoning turns TPTK into a bluff but I think that you only have showdown value, against most opponents, if both turn and river gets checked through. |

Looks fine. I'd bet $13/$33, but that's it. You do get called by worse on the turn.

Re: Here is another reason why I lose my ass at 200NL
Anybody check behind turn for pot control, not get c/r'd, showdown with hand that has value, not turn TPTK into bluff? You're still ahead of alot of his range here since it's still a steal/defense situation.

Yeah, I like the idea of checking turn. A lot of draws could have been hit, but we are usually still ahead. I think by betting the turn we lose value.
