Default HU hand against a decent player in a 200+10

We're head-up in a live 200+10 local tourney. I have T79000, he has T52000. Blinds are 2000/4000 with a 500 ante. Opponent is a straight up ABC poker player, and I haven't seen anything out the ordinary from his play throughout the final table.

He is BB and I'm SB on the button with K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and call the 2000. He checks his option and the flop comes K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

He shoves, not an insta-shove, but pretty quick and without much thought.

What's my play?

call

most of the time you will find him beiing on a flush- or straight-draw.

you are heads up holding top pair - a monster

so i think you have to call that

I'd raise pre-flop.

Whether to call the flop or not depends on your read. I don't think shoving 52k for a 7k pot with a bare flush-draw is "straight up ABC poker", so I"m assuming I'm behind here and folding.

I'd find it hard to call here. Especially based on what you just said about him not being out of line much.

so what would you assume villain is holding?

don't get me wrong, if you fold top-pair in a heads up situation to a push you will have to fold many many pots and will often finish second.

a push in heads up is usually a chase-off bet with a pair but not TP (this is ABC-Poker) or a semibluff draw (this is also ABC-Poker).

i think the only risk here is he also holds a king with a slightly better kicker, any better holding a ABC-Player would slowplay heads-up to get most out of the pot.

Call, can't see how he plays 2 pair / TPGK this way that often.

Here was my thinking as I thought about a call (feel free to pick apart my thoughts on this btw).

This guys plays ABC poker, so if he had K 10 or above or K 9 sooted, he'll raise preflop. So first I have to decide, would he open shove with K 8 or K 7? If he flops 2 pair, K 2 or 3, he's gonna try and milk me for all my chips that he can.

But I've been chip leader for most of the final table and the big stack bully, and my opponent only caught up to me my eliminating the 3rd place player. Still, I've won the last 4 hands-in-a-row, once with just a simple raise pre-flop, twice by re-raising him preflop, and once by betting pot on the flop. So I think that he's a bit intimidated and getting tired of me pushing him around. I don't have the feeling that he's waiting to trap me, more that he's just tired of getting outplayed by me.

This leads me to believe that he's got a flush draw (perhaps with the 2 or 3 paired), doesn't want to pay to play, and would rather shove, end the hand here, and move on to something better.

I'm still worried about Kx, but I went with my read and called. He turned over Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Soooooo, this belongs in BBV then?
Your line of thinking is good, I'd have done the same.
