I am all about pot control here and because of that I check behind on the turn ... you were ahead or behind on the flop and that turn card didn't help you at all unless it leads to boating up on the river

Also I'm betting $8 pre and not $10 ... not a big deal but may help you get away a little cheaper if the need arises

I'm not sure why you wouldn't re-raise flop if you're willing to get it in on the turn. The board's not super-drawy, but still that's my first inclination since the BB called. Either that or go WA/WB and try for the cheap showdown. Do you really put him on J9 or 79? The only other way the A helped you is if he has QQ/KK. Do you really think he'd CRAI with KK there?

As played, I don't think I can call. BB looks like a set to me...

[/ QUOTE ]I don't like this at all. If we RR fop to $60 and he pushes, we are going to fold getting better than 2:1 on our money. If we believe there's that good of a chance that we don't even have 33% equity in this pot, we shouldn't be inflating it.

As for the OP, I can't really see any other way of playing it, really. Once you have top two on this board I think you have to just try to get all the money in- you really don't want to give straight and backdoor flush draws a free card here. You likely have the best hand and the pot is big enough I think risking stacking off to a set or flopped straight is worth it to charge draws.

And if either player flopped a straight or set, their turn play sucks.

[/ QUOTE ]Actually, I take this back.

I don't like the PF raise very much. This seems to be an example of SPR gone badly- in that you managed to achieve an SPR of 6, which really just isn't good for AJ as a TPTK type hand. That is to say, you shouldn't expect reasonably decent players to put in 6x the pot on the flop with a hands worse than TPTK often enough to make getting it all in profitable. However, if they DO have a better hand, they will frequently be putting you to this decision.

I think that making the raise PF made this a very difficult pot size for your hand and probably limp behind would have been better.

Who smooth calls a 2/3 pot donk bet in a raised pot and the PFR still to act with anything less than a monster? I don't think I've ever seen that except from complete donks. Maybe occasionally from combo draws but without some kind of history with villain I don't see a lot of players pushing just an OESD or KJ. He's gotta know he doesn't have much FE.

There is no way you can justify open limping AJ from the CO... We got called on our steal attempt and donk bet into. We didn't know they were gonna call when we bet and most of the time they won't.

I am anxious to read PNL though. Hopefully it comes in the mail today.

Assuming the small blind folds when we RR preflop and The bb pushes. We have
$133 behind to call into a $265 pot since extra money doesn't count for our pot odds we have just under 2 to 1 $1 under to be exact.
