Default 2-1

If a pot is laying 2-1 odds, you need 33.3333% equity for the break-even call, correct?

Sounds right to me, 2:1 is 1/3 = 33.33~%. But I'd wait for a more experienced player to confirm this before you go betting the house

Right, as long as you're calling on the river. Earlier in the hand, implied odds come into play--i.e. the additional money that your opponents will put into the pot if you make your hand.

Yep. Implied odds makes it an easier call sometimes, depending on if you expect him to bet on the turn for example.
