Stake someone?
I'm not new to poker, just new to the concept of staking people.
Is it essentially a loan? Are they expected to pay back? How do they usually work? Say I stake someone 50% to sign up for a tournament. I proposed this idea to my friend: Stake him $250 for 2 tabling NL25 on Full Tilt, and he has to pay me back 90% plus 15% of profit he makes. He's a solid TAG with no money, is all. Is there a difference between a loan and "staking?" What are some other stakes you guys have done/heard of? Thanks. |

Staking is giving a person money, for an event or cash game, and getting a % of his winnings (if he wins). If the person looses the money, so do you. If your friend lets you stake him for 50%... AND he is still require to pay back the money.... you really got a good deal (as far as staking goes) and some might say your scamming him unfairly. Personally, I would never stake anyone. |

Re: Stake someone?
Since it's payback, sounds like a great deal for you and your friend. That's what friends are for.
