Re: Flopped set. Played bad?
You don't really have to ask if this was played bad do you?
Geez, 1st) Raise it pre-flop 2nd) Bet more on the flop 3rd) Bet more on the turn. 4th) Now that you've done all that. I doubt villain is still around but if he is you have a much more reasonable all in on the river. |

Re: Flopped set. Played bad?
1st) Preflop is fine, I guess. I raise this about 75% of the time.
2nd) Bet the flop as you normally would, but not like an estrogen factory. Whether to lead is up to you. 3rd) Bet at least 2/3 pot on the turn. 4th) Profit |

Re: Flopped set. Played bad?
Preflop: If you aren't intentionally shortstacking then rebuy!! Then raise it up in MP2 w/ 99, that way when you hit you win a nice pot.
Flop: If you'd raised then just make your usual cbet. As played I like the lead. Check raising is going to look pretty strong. Pretty unlikely that anyone's holding anything that you should be afraid of although button would have raised QT preflop. Turn: I'd bet a little more here. Not so much to protect your hand, but because you've got a set and you'd like to build a big pot. Missed overs probably aren't calling again here on the turn and if he's got a J or an overpair then he's definitely calling a bigger bet than the one you made. Getting more in the pot now allows you to make a bigger bet on the river and win a bigger pot. Also, bigger bets makes drawers make bigger mistakes if they stick around. River: As played, I don't like your shove unless you have a read that villain stacks off with top pair type hands. Although, your stack is small so maybe he's a little more willing to overplay a marginal hand. The shove just doesn't seem that likely to get called by hands that you're beating and theres no reason to think you're not ahead. A small part of his range just made a backdoor flush but you can't be worried about that...more often than not you're way ahead on this river. |

He's got 2.75 over a full stack I think. It's 50NL

Re: 50NL Flopped set. Played bad?
I think you said it yourself: the turn is where you strarted to blow it. I don't really mind flop and pre-flop. I probably raise in this spot PF, but I don't have much problem with a limp.
Flop looks ok to me too, maybe a little more, but 3.50 is fine. I'd bet more like 8-10 on the turn though. And I don't just shove on the river. As played, I prob bet like 1/2 pot for value on the river. If he's a donk and has been calling with Q10, he might pay you off thinking you just have AJ or something. Also, don't mention that villain called your all-in. Leave that out next time |

Re: 50NL Flopped set. Played bad?
Thanks for your comments guys! Yep I really did know I played the hand awfully, especially by shoving on the river.
It was one of those hands where I was either gonna win a small pot or lose a big one with that stupid shove. Villain won with KJ hearts for the flush. I won the stupid title! But your comments have helped me to learn how I could have played it better pre flop, and on each street. Thanks to all those who took the time to comment. |

Re: 50NL Flopped set. Played bad?
Bet the flop a bit harder and the turn a lot harder. As played the river shove is kind of silly, you're overbetting the pot by a ton on a card that completes a ton of draws.
