Grinding it out advice

I'm about to embark on building my br from $30 to whatever I can make it. I play on pokerstars, and I'm currently at the .01/.02 tables. I have a few questions. What should my bankroll be to move up to .02/.04 then so on. And what should I buy in for. I have been buying in for the minimum ($1) but I want to see what you guys think.
