Are you sure you have the L1 cache sizes correct?

At any rate, I think they are about the same, but they are both dated as well.

Pentium Dual-Core E-series is not old as hell, it is a rebadged Core 2 Duo chip with fused down cache. The T-series are rebadged Yonah (Core-Duo)

Typically Core2 Duo's smoke AMD, but these chips are fairly equivilant based on Tom's hardware data, but with The Pentium leading a little on some of the benchmarks.

I am a big Intel fan but I am going to have to say that if everything else were equal it would probably be a toss up. What chipsets come with these and what do you want to do wit them?

Thanks.

I'm buying a computer from Dell Australia for my brother (who lives in Australia) to play poker on. So poker will pretty much be it's only use (some downloading as well).

Dell Australia has two different desktop packages for $898AU (their cheapest) with these two processors. I would probably prefer the AMD package as it has a better monitor and burner, but in the end if the Pentium is far better I would take it.

Spend a bit more and get an E6600... It's really not worth dropping to an E2140 to save a few dollars. E6600 seems to be the sweet spot in terms of value.

Agree with the above. E6600s are very overclockable and is one of the best value processors you can buy, and will no doubt last you a good few years.

Intel C2D >>>>>>>>>>> AMD X2s. I've just built a Shuttle with an E6750, so I worship Intel atm

A Q6600 quad if you want to put out a few extra, but without going too crazy. I can't say enough about how well it's working for me.

PS - if you go quad get the one with the B0 stepping.

PS2 - E6600 a fine choice also, esp at that price.
