Default Play along: all fold to A8 in the small blind

Game is $3-6 live limit hold 'em.
Table just dropped from eight to five players, and we have agreed that no more chopping will be allowed (and we had a rake reduction).

Read on BB: Seems inexperienced. I have seen him take his option from the big blind against five or six limpers with hands like ATo and KJo. Seems like the kind of player who thinks "my hand is a good hand--raise" but he's not completely braindead. I have no read on his short-handed style yet, but I have seen him continue his aggression preflop on later streets, betting out with King high on the turn when it couldn't have been good.

Preflop: Hero is in small blind with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG folds. UTG+1 folds. Button folds. Hero raises. Big blind (villianous scum) reraises. Hero calls.

Flop: (6 SB)
T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Hero checks(?) Villian bets. Hero?

Preflop is standard.

Call flop.

Call most turns. Fold K, Q, and maybe J turns.

Fold river UI.

Easy now...not so fast! I wouldn't have posted this as a "play along" if there weren't some tasty twists and turns coming up. I'll see if anyone else wants to weigh in on the flop before we move things along. (Sneak preview: there are some tells ahead.)

Save the times you have a pair in SH play to look up villain to see if he is 3-barreling or not. Chances are that he is not at this limit. Also, deciding that you are going to showdown on the turn, and then calling a river K/Q is spew.

Addendum: I would consider the board pairing on the river, esp. if it's a T an improvment that may require a river call. You should be folding a board that looks like T4379 though.

Call the flop with the intention of betting the turn if you improve and c/r if the board pairs. If he checks behind on the turn, your hand is good.

This is good advice too. I was playing under the assumption that the turn and river were blanking off.

Default On to the turn

Well, "call" seems to be unanimous, and that is exactly what I did. So, here we go.

Flop: (6 SB) T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Hero checks. Villian bets. Hero calls

Read: As my chips go in and the dealer gathers the pot, the villian checks his hole cards. The way it was done, by this type of newbie player, screamed out "I have nothing!" I was struggling in my own mind whether to bet out or checkraise the turn, when the dealer burned and...

Turn: (4 BB) T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Then, to my utter amazement, villian checks his cards again (this was not a tick of his, I had never seen him check his cards once, much less twice). The queen hit him in some way, but not with a pair. AK, KJ, and AJ were the prime suspects now--a ragged straight draw that he had to struggle to see. For this reason, KJ seemed the least likely. Unfortunately, it was the only hand I was beating.

Hero?
