Villain limps in middle position
I'm just on his left
I limp with 33
2 other limpers

Flop: ($40) Td6s3d
Villain bets 40
I raise to 100 with bottom set
Villain reraises to 300
I figure he's got a big hand (hopefully not a set, but if he does, I'm willing to go broke here) and reraise to 800

If the flop had been rainbow, I would have just called his reraise, but I was afraid that if a third diamond came on the turn, that it would kill the action. I wanted to essentially get us pot-committed before that happened. Also, if a diamond comes on the turn, I'm not sure it would be a good idea for me to bet, because there is a remote possibility that he would have a flush. So I just wanted to get the money in there before that happened.

Please critique my reasoning.
