Default Micro-Stakes LIMIT Digest: August #1

Back by popular demand: The Micro-Limit Forum Digest

I am going to try and keep a regular digest going for the foreseeable future. I will be doing a digest bi-monthly on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. I am usually on here daily or at least every other day, but I don’t always read every thread here beginning to end (I have important OOT and BBV4L gossip to read as well ) so if you see a thread that is digest worthy please bring it to my attention by PM’ing me (I will try and keep my PM box empty enough so I can receive them), or Emailing, or IM’ng me (my Email and AIM can be found in my user profile here). I’m looking for threads that have at least one or more of the following qualities.

<ul type="square">[*]Hands that got a lot of in-depth discussion [*]General strategy or C/T Pooh-bah type posts[*]Threads that may not have gotten a lot of discussion but had a really good eye-opening post or two
With that said here is August Digest #1

Hand Discussion Threads
-PP raise or fold? – by KaatzMeow Preflop questions are simple, right? Here Xhad and HouseCalls debate the merits of raising the ever troubling pocket nines (the ‘Eegahs’ as we used to call them cause his advice would be “raise preflop, flop quads”).

- Too Close to call....a clear fold or not? - by Nick D The dangers of cold calling and all kinds of good PF discussion about what to cold call, 3 bet, fold, and adjusting these things based on table and villain.

-A 99 Hand – by Fantam How good is our showdown strength, and how much stock should we put in protecting these nines.

-More H from the HORSEament – by Aaron W. A little bit of tournament strategy, a little bit of blind defense strategy, a little bit of a 2+2er’s villainy, all add up to a good discussion on firing the second shot on a scary board.

-A3s - 6 handed – by JJack A good discussion of what to do with top pair, weak kicker, which brings out an old Ed Miller quote.

-I'm in ur flopz, holding top pair – by RemyXO Remy gets some tough love, and Aaron W. and Harv72b discuss the age old question “to donk, or not to donk?”

-When to stop with KK - by JamesBJames Some interesting look at maths and hand ranges.

-AJ offsuit two pair - by CasinoR7 Ozi and Xhad talk about this slowplay, but more importantly they discuss the third level thinking of “if you played this like a monster and are still getting action, maybe that means you should slow down”

-Folding river when pot is big and I have to pay only 1BB - by JJack A display of how sometimes it’s how you got to the river that matters more then what you do when you’re there.

Strategy &amp; General Theory Posts
-Ozi's Guide to Table and Seat Selection (Very Long) - by Aussie Battler The title says it all! Hands down the best table and seat selection thread that I have ever seen, including a link to a quiz to see if you pick up what Ozi’s putting down.

Two threads on playing against the crazies that are becoming more prevalent in our online world both of which have some good thoughts by RemyXO and others.
-I don't know how to Beat LAA
-Playing Against The Maniacs (Old Hand Dissertation) - by RemyXO

-LHE Concept of the Week - WA/WB - by HouseCalls The first instalment of a series that I think has great potential to teach. Get involved and tell House what other topics you'd like to see discussed.

Various and Sundry Merriments

-All My Money Are Belong to Me (NC Thread) All the gosip whining and random oddness that you can handle.

-The Pervious Digest

**I am going to diverge a bit with my digests and always try to add a link at the bottom that I think may be beneficial to the micro’s readers. This may be a classic micro post by a respected poster, a post from a different forum that you may not have caught, or possibly an article from some other poker source.

This weeks selection is a post HouseCalls did a long time ago about how we learn to handle the close decisions with discussion on whether new players might be better served to err on the side of caution in some of these close decisions to minimize risk and swings.
-Aspiring TAGs - how to handle razor thin +EV situations (long)

Enjoy
Thomas
