A friend and mine argue how much of a bigger tournament (say 1000 or more entrants) is luck and skill. So created a poll to get your opinions thanks.

There should be a 100% skill option, luck plays a factor but poker is a finite game, there exists an optimal solution, and if you don't define "skill" as "the play that most resembles optimal" I'm not sure how you'd define it. Of course, such a poorly defined poll is bound to come under scrutiny.

This was just spur of the moment because I too feel it is mostly skill and get unlucky at times he begs to differ. Therefore I thought maybe a poll would give some evidence of players who are more involved in the game.

yea, you need to specify if you mean one tournament or a month/year/career's worth.

If it weren't for luck Phil Hellmuth would win every tournament he enters. Therefore since he wins less than 5% of the tournaments he enters it must be 95% luck.
Sorry, but your friend is correct. |

you and your friend need to take a statistics class and learn about variance.
as # of tournaments approaches infinity you will reach your true winrate. The less tournaments in your sample the more variance will effect your results. Your poll options are just silly |
