200 NL - QQ decision on the flop
No reads on MP1
UTG is short stacker running 10/9.3/oo over 160 hands. The plan was to squeeze MP1 and get AI PF with versus UTG. Things changed when MP1 calls. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (10 handed) by Hand Converter CG MP2 ($192.25) Hero ($198) CO ($27) Button ($400.30) SB ($204.15) BB ($205.40) UTG ($40) UTG+1 ($53.60) UTG+2 ($125.10) MP1 ($187) Preflop: Hero is MP3 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG raises to $8, 2 folds, MP1 calls $8, 1 fold, Hero raises to $35, 4 folds, UTG calls $32 (All-In), MP1 calls $32, Hero calls $5. Flop: ($120) K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players, 1 all-in) MP1 checks, Hero bets $80, MP1 calls $147 (All-In), Hero calls $67. When he pushed, i realized that my flop bet sizing was pretty bad. i also realized that i didn't have a plan past my flop bet (ie, i didn't think to myself, bet/call push.) Any comments are welcome. |

Re: 200 NL - QQ decision on the flop
I think you went wrong with the 3bet preflop. I would just call in this spot. After the 3bet I probably check behind on the flop.

Re: 200 NL - QQ decision on the flop
If villain has Kx or 22, then you are a 9:1 dog. So, bet enough to make him fold anything other than those hands and fold if he checkraises you all in. After all, he has to put you on AK or AA and expect you to call if he check raises all-in, so he wouldn't do that unless he didn't fear you had AK because HE had the K or 22. Once you bet $60 and get c/r'ed all in, you won't be getting 9:1 pot odds to call, so you can fold.
So, bet $60 on the flop, and fold to a c/r-push. As played, I think you can actually fold for the extra $67. The pot odds are only 5:1 and I think you are a 9:1 dog given his action and no reads that he might be bluffing with JJ. If you had any reads at all on his willingness to stack off on a bluff, then I might advise something different. But you have no reads, and with no draws, he either has Kx, 22, or air. And I sincerely doubt he has air. |

Re: 200 NL - QQ decision on the flop
Thanks for the feedback
[ QUOTE ] I think you went wrong with the 3bet preflop. I would just call in this spot. [/ QUOTE ] I don't agree with this. I'm in good shape against UTG range (77+, A9s+, AJo+, KJs+, KQo is about 9%) and unless MP1 is slowplaying, i'm ahead of him too. [ QUOTE ] So, bet $60 on the flop, and fold to a c/r-push. [/ QUOTE ] if i thought about it, i probably would have bet smaller and b/f. After i bet, i thought i was committed and called. I guess what is troubling me with this hand is what kind of line i should be taking on the flop. Is b/f correct or do i usually have a better hand than MP1 and i should be looking to get it in? I'll post the results in a while. |

You do need to plan your hand a bit better, but you learned that from this experience, right?

I can tell you from experience that putting in a 3bet against him is not a good idea with QQ especially with his postflop aggression. You'll make more seeing the flop vs. this guy. |

You do need to plan your hand a bit better, but you learned that from this experience, right? [/ QUOTE ] Not really: hand results (from memory) Turn is A River is a blank UTG had AKs for a full house MP1 had 88 for 2 pair. I netted 50BB from the hand. Luckily for me, i not content with winning money. i'm more interested in playing winning poker. Hence, me posting this hand. |
