Best or Worst casino to work at?
I know a lot of people on here are employees of casino or at least are buddies with others who are in the industry. Just wondering which ones are the best or worst and why?

Re: Best or Worst casino to work at?
I've worked for a few. It should come as no surprise that MGM/Mirage is a first-class organization, and Harrahs is the scourge of the universe.

I've heard that about Harrah's. I was just offered a job at Bally's. I accepted then was supposed to hear from HR. Well, a week has passed and nothing. I now have other interviews lined up.

[/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't work for Harrah's again unless I had no other reasonable options (I will consider dealing the WSOP again only when management changes drastically). My experience as an MGM-Mirage employee would not support the 1st class rating you give them, but my issue was more with the Manager of the room then the corporate entity (but the choice of manager is a corporate policy) |

and Harrahs is the scourge of the universe. [/ QUOTE ] You might not be the best person to answer this, but I'm curious if consensus is that Harrah's is bad up and down the org chart, all over the country, or if some places are noticeably better than others. I ask this because my impression is that the Horseshoe Tunica is well respected by players, and also generally attracts good dealers. There are the occasional "Harrah's is too cheap to do _____" wisecracks by players and dealers alike, but nothing too serious or biting. In general the 'Shoe seems first-class. In contrast the Grand seems like a meat market that's way too big just so they can run their WSOP circuit tournaments and capitalize on the trademark. Incidentally the other nice Tunica property is MGM/Mirage's, the Gold Strike. Their reputation seems to be very high too. |

People I know would agree with the Harrahs statement. People who live in my house.

[/ QUOTE ] The Horseshoe in Tunica gained its reputation (and dealers) before Harrah's aquired it. A lot of the people that made it the Horseshoe have left since it was aquired by Harrah's. There are still some good people that work for Harrah's. |

Wynn if you want to get paid. Pit dealers make around 80-120k a year. (For a period of time, they were making more than the pit bosses) Poker dealers is a different story. Edit: (I have no clue what poker dealers at the Wynn make)

Re: Best or Worst casino to work at?
harrahs might suck as a company but I thought they were pretty decent to work for.
They give you a free buffet to eat while you are working so you never have to worry about bringing food to work. You can also eat before and after your shifts for free which is really nice. While I was working there I saved a fortune on food. If I really wanted to I could drive over there and eat every meal for free. The food is good also. Tons of fresh fruit/veggies/lean meat. They even had soft serve fat free ice cream. You also get paid for working 8 hours and you only work 7. Alot of places might do this I dont know but you get paid for your breaks. I thought they were pretty decent to work for. Most of the people there had about the same opinion I would think. Most ppl thought harrah's was ok to work for. |
