Default 50NL My hand is beat but can I take this pot with a bluff?

Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.25/$0.50 Blinds - 8 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $28.55
BB: $33.85
UTG: $63.45 VPIP: 19.51, PFR: 13.41, Hands: 82
UTG+1: $62.85
MP1: $51.90
Hero (MP2): $51.65
CO: $10.85
BTN: $12.65 VPIP: 14.2, PFR: 2.5, Hands: 500

Preflop: Hero is dealt 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (8 Players)
UTG raises to $1.75, 2 folds, Hero calls $1.75, CO folds, BTN calls $1.75, 2 folds

Flop: ($6) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 Players)
UTG checks, Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($6) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 Players)
UTG checks, Hero checks, BTN checks

Here my reads are that the UTG player has a premium pocket pair but is scared of the A on the board so doesn't want to bet. The button player seems weak so I figure there is potential to represent a weak A holding on the river, button player has nothing so folds, and UTG player folds his better pair.

River: ($6) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 Players)
UTG checks, Hero ???

River is a blank! This board seems safe enough, but can I bluff this spot well enough to get +EV? Is it too late to try and represent my hand as a weak A here? If I can bluff this, how big should my bet be?

No. You get looked up by a T here.

Wow, talk about an insignificant hand. And why would you think of bluffing here?

Anyone with an Ace, T, 8, or 66+ is calling you, even for full pot. And everything you beat is folding. You may get value from a 4. Just check it down and hope you win the massive pot.

The pot is $6, that's your problem. He's not folding KK to a pot-sized bet on the river.

If you bet $6 on the turn and follow up with a $15 bet on the river he might let it go.

$6 > $0.

I'm open to other lines here. I think the problem with betting the turn is that I don't really know how weak the button is until he checks behind again. I do however have the read on the UTG player at this point so that would open up the question of whether I can indeed bet the turn and lead out for a larger river bet? I could also overbet the river but this will look somewhat odd.

Why would you go through all the trouble of firing two streets against two opponents for such a small pot? Just check it down and hope you're good. I also don't like the plan of betting the turn with the intention of betting the river in an attempt to fold out QQ-KK type hands because I don't think they are calling the turn and folding such an innocent river often.

Cool, thanks for the advice. I donkishly bet $3 on the river and obviously UTG called with KK. I was sure I had zero showdown value but it seems clear I just have to give the pot up here.

Why would you put UTG on a premium pocket pair after the turn action? He could easily have KQ, KJ, QJs, 55-77, 99, etc. Plus way more.

I don't see how you can be sure you had zero showdown value.
