Resteal in stars 100k
I hadn't been at the table long and there were about 3500 left (3000 paid) so bubble effects were just about starting. I guess my question is whether this is standard against an unknown in this tourney.

Re: Resteal in stars 100k
Your stack might be too short here to do this. Antes 120?
Means pot is little over 3k + 3600 raise. It's really marginal here. A shorter stack or higher blinds makes this much more profitable. |

Re: Resteal in stars 100k
I like to feel things out a little bit more before I start to three-bet. The thing about three-betting is that it's not just "I have 89s and the pot is good enough to do it." At least not when my M is still 10 / I have no info on my opponent.
The other thing is that 3500 (3000 paid) is not really "bubble" material. Also, button's stack kind of sucks and I think he gambles with Ax / any pair here. Finally, [censored] any online tournament (and in general, [censored] Pokerstars) where 3000 players can cash. Barry |

Re: Resteal in stars 100k
I like. Button's put in 20% of his chips which makes this ok I think...anymore and you wouldnt have much FE and if he had you covered the risk:reward ratio wouldnt be good enough but as is and with a nonATC hand I think its fine

Re: Resteal in stars 100k
meh, either way. It's standard if he had a little bigger stack and was regularly steeling blinds, obv. Not sure what the math dictates in this situation. No guarantee he calls with ATC just because he has 2:1. I think you get a fold a good percent of the time. I prefer to at least some read that would suggest he is stealing here other than he is raising OTB. It sould suck to bluff into a guy that has mucked two orbits straight.

Re: Resteal in stars 100k
Your reward is too small, that is the problem.
You need to get a fold 80% of the time for this to be profitable. |

Re: Resteal in stars 100k
Also not true because it doesn't take into account getting called and winning.
So probably pretty close to 66/33 on his range here. With the dead money = ~15% dead equity it needs to work a little over two times for every time you get called to make up for getting called. I still just don't think there is a significant increase in *our* stack to make this play. |
