No reads on villain. He's just sat down. We've all been here, but what is everyone doing? I'm rarely folding TPTK when it's HU like this, but should I be? You're nearly always looking at an overpair, but is it a bluff often enough to call down?

Once he raises the flop, I'm just calling down.
The way you played it, I'd call and fold the river u/i |

Well this turn has a flush and straight possibilites making it ripe for a semi bluff raise. when that 9 hit it is hard to think of anything other than a busted club flush draw that you would be beating. Since you have no read I would call this one down for 1 bet expecting to lose but seeing a busted flush draw often enough to justify the call.

I think you played it okay. Although you are most probably beat, the pot is really too big to fold by the river. The spot to fold would have been the turn, if you were going to fold.
I don't think the turn deuce helped him, but if he had an overpair or a set, why not cap the flop? So he could raise the turn I guess. Would really suck if he had a pair of Jacks, heh. Fishlips |

Why not 3 bet preflop? |

3 betting is a viable option. But you're not going to thin the field further, and you lose some hand disguise.

Grunch* Why not 3 bet preflop? [/ QUOTE ] Because you are not a big favorite over an UTG raise but you are getting nice odds to toss in a chip and see the flop. I agree that with the draws and without a read this is an clear but close call on the turn. It hurts to put the river bet in after the nine hits but I do it anyway because of draws/pot size. Because we are OOP I like the idea mentioned earlier about playing this a little less aggressively although I don't like giving a free card on the turn. |
