Call is good - especially when you have position on the raiser (first to act after him postflop, even if button calls). It's worth thinking about what you would do if there was a reraise behind you (depends on players, obv). Not too worrisome here, so a call looks even better.
Definitely OTT to push and, as you say, reraising (a sensible amount, ~500) pretty much pot-commits you (and him) even if it doesn't all go in preflop. |

Re: ($27) AKs - Shove Or flat call at 25/50
I would definately need to believe he raises a wide range here to shove and I just don't think that 150 represents a large enough amount of your stack to shove to pick up. I like a lil more overlay in the case that I have to race with 88 here. normal RR is obv no good for reasons state above.
I would also be prepared to bet a flop if checked to. |

Re: ($27) AKs - Shove Or flat call at 25/50
Well...I really don't understand when people talk about reads for a 150 raise in mid position.
Range is so wide here...a regular is raising most pairs and probably AJs+, KQ and I don't see an unknwon behaving much differently, maybe some worse A. So reads are pretty much irrelevant, especially with AK which is a hand that plays on its own. There are two reasons why you just call here: 1)Disguise your hand; flat calling in the first levels is most of the time sign of a pair therefore if villain is playing AQ or AJ you have a much better chance to get all his chips. 2) you are not deep enough to reraise and not being committed, with a reraise to 450 pot is already 1000. Probably levl 3 is the latest stage where you can still call. Post flop: I disagree with whoever say to bet any checked flop, it is pretty much based on flop's texture itself: I like to bet when I hit and I really like to keep the pot small since I already decided to go for the conservative way, AQ and Aj are not paying you off and you risk a check raise by a mid pair. |
