because the tournament starts when 9 (or 10 or 6 depending on the tournament) players sit down.

Cos they're not scheduled - they start when the seats are full.
They're often, but not always, STTs because people looking for the convenience of a quick start don't want to wait for 2000 people to sit and aren't usually looking to play for hours on end. |

i was really drunk yesterday and thought why they were called it. i figured "stt"s was pretty ovbious, but sit and go`s i was like meh i dont know.
