Default NL25 trips facing river bet

It's my 2nd orbit at the table so no reads. His riverbet confused me and I didn't really knew what to do. Call? Fold?

I like to call and just make note of what villian did there. Did he slow-play us? Did he put you on a flush draw and bet out when the 3rd flush card didn't hit? Does he put you on some sort of Ace that didn't hit? Not really a lot you can do. I don't think there's any value in raising and I'm certainly not folding this without some sort of read

Call because if he had a set then he would reraise you on turn, knowing you have an 8 and would stack off. Similarly, if he had A8 then he would likely raise turn knowing that you have a worse kicker. All other 8x hands would be folded preflop by him.
