Default Super tight aggressive or hyper loose aggressive?

MTT Live 30+10 buyin
800 starting chips
5/10 start with 20 min blinds
150/200 players average

I've played 4 or 5 of these in the past and have now put this on my weekly to do list.

I am having trouble getting a decent start.

The problem is with only 800 starting chips if you get a decent starting hand and you raise, call a raise or you reraise or call a reraise preflop and then end up doing the same on the flop by the turn you are either pot committed or 1/3 of your stack is gone.

Would you play these super tight aggressive or hyper loose aggressive?

Since most of these players will be playing hyper lag i might see some flops and try and pick up a monster to double up but i would play tag through the 50-100 level for the most part trying to steal blinds when i can against the weak tight players blinds VERY EFFECTIVE with these starting stacks. I have recently implented the steal 10x more often than i used to and i have had much more success going deeper in events and more cashes. Just be sure to pay attention to who u can steal from and who u cant

sounds basic but play opposite the table dynamic...tight table get aggressive and at loose table pick fewer spots and play em hard

limp first hand, re-buy once and you have 159BB. Play hands that make monsters in position.

He didn't say this was a rebuy tournament. If it is that would impact the right answer, whatever the answer is.

OP, do you realize what an uphill battle you've got to come out ahead with 25% of your buy-in going to the house? I'm not sure what the answer is (assuming no rebuy) but the player who said to play TAG until the 50/100 level is probably wrong (unless of course the deck hits you hard or I misunderstand what he's saying). If you don't get a several playable hands (by a typical TAG's definition) then you'll be as good as dead by the time the 50/100 level rolls around. However his advice on stealing is right. Steal, and steal often.

Fold pre-tournament. This rake is ridiculous. Play online, or anywhere but here.
