NL50: It\'s been a while... standard or stupid?
I was expecting a quick fold from the stealer preflop. Should we just give up on the turn? Fire again?

Re: It\'s been a while... standard or stupid?
Flop C-bet looks a tiny bit small to me, though if 2/3pot c-bets are your standard line, thats fine.
I totally give up here, and I just cannot figure out what the hell button has here given his line. FWIW, I expect to be called by almost everything on the river that is willing to call my flop bet, considering board texture. Only possible hand I see ridding myself of is JT, and we already have that beat. Am I a nit? |

betting flop, checking turn and betting river always looks like a bluff, I think it's best to pretty much never do it when your bluffing unless you have a strong read he had busted draw or something

Re: It\'s been a while... standard or stupid?
Yeah, I don't think I'm firing again after the flop. In general, I don't see what he's calling with that he's going to be folding on the river. I guess you get him to fold hands like mid PP's, or maybe AQ, both of which beat you. But I get the feeling that you're going to be called (or raised) too often to make this profitable.
Perhaps this bet would be better suited for the turn than the river. On the turn you opponent at least has the fear of another bet on the river to deal with. But on the river, he can call without that fear. So if you're commited to firing another bullet, I think I prefer betting the turn over the river. But overall, without some kind of read I don't think I'd continue betting after the flop. |

Checking the turn is fine...when he checks behind another stab looks good to me. And you didnt risk that much either to do it.

Re: NL50: It\'s been a while... standard or stupid?
River bet looks bad to me, I guess he had JT or he played an underpair pretty terribly. I wouldn't be shocked if he had AT/AJ either but that's beside the point. You're betting half the pot to take out 22, 44-66, 88-JJ, and there's a significant chance he calls you with these anyway. Meanwhile you definitely lose your bet if he's got Kx, Qx, or clubs.
