Misread the BOARD...
I have a couple times (once every 6 months of play) misread my hole cards and heard of others doing it, but this is the first time I have ever misread the board LIVE and on top of that I was sitting in the middle seat right in front of the board. SO here is the hand:
playing live at 8/16 limit at CP in late middle position. I open it with a raise with Ac9c, Button calls, BB calls. Flop: KcTc2c BB checks I bet, button calls, BB folds Turn: 9s I bet, button calls. River: Js At this point i'm certain the button is just going to call me, so (pretending) to be the pro that i am; i want to extract more monies from him cause who doesn't bet in position with that board?.. so i check, button bets, i raise... as soon as i finish putting out the last stack of the raise i realize that what i thought was the Kc on the flop is really a Ks, so i only have 2nd bottom pair! so i realize i just attempted the the worst bluff attempt in history and start hollywooding like an amateur ... "can't believe you fell for that obvious check raise"... "did you say your gonna re-raise?".... after a long thought the guy FOLDS his Kc8c!!! I flip my cards over because i just pulled off the best bluff in history. you write your own BBV for this one |
