Default Home Security: Safes

Hi All,

I haven't been having much luck with finding out who are the most reputable safe makers around. Can anyone suggest a really top of the line safe maker?

I'm not looking to store anything big. More like things like an ever-growing expensive watch collection, jewelry etc.

Cost is not an issue fortunately. I just want the best of the best.

Thanks ahead of time for the help.

I was looking into this a few months ago. My problem with it was that a really small safe can always just be picked up and taken. Hell, even the ones in the middle range could be moved with a dolly with no problem if someone was determined. If I had the know-how or knew a company that would install it, I would definately have gone with an in-wall or in-floor model. I decided to wait a year until I am out of law school and buy a house and just get a really large safe, mainly because I have several shotguns/rifles that need to be stored properly. I don't want to buy one now and deal with the pain of moving it in <12 months.

Don't get a safe. Bad guys like to break into your house and will wait for you to come home if they can't get into the safe. They will put a pistol to your head and beat you until you give up the combo. Then they will loot it. If you're lucky they won't kill you at that point.

I'm not kidding.

If you do need a safe for documents (flood and fire protection), get one of those office depot ones and DON'T bolt it down. That way the crooks can just steal it if you get robbed.

This does happen.

Most burglars avoid residents like the plague. They get in, take the valuables, and leave. They don't wait around for somebody to come home so they can score bigger.
