You've probably seen the Ads. Dids hosts this new show where you have to guess what % of americans answered a certain way to a question with two possible answer. For example, what % of ppl don't wear underwear on a regular basis.
It's pretty boring until the person works their way up to 100k. Basically, once you've got enough correct to have 100k you face a decision. you get to lock in a 10% zone where if the answer is in that zone you get 1mil. If its not in that 10% you only get 10k. Guessing, of course is +ev. If you havent any clue what the answer is, you have a 10% chance of just guessing right, and you're risking 90k to win 900k, so its equal, but usually you can rule out 0 or 100% so you have some +EV. It's a pretty good test of risk aversion. The first kid they had on was going to med school, looked like he came from a rich family. He went for the mil and won. After you get to pick the extact % from the 11 choices possible for 10mil, if you're wrong you drop to 100k again. This is pretty clearly -ev and the kid walked away. so what do you think OOT. Boring show? Would you gambol or just take the 100k? |

The questions seemed to be a little on the weak side--kind of like Family Feud but without Richard Dawson or the charm. I might check it out if there are trip reports that convince me otherwise.

I like guessing the percentages, but the game itself is going to get old quickly. Winning a million bucks isn't terribly difficult and no one is going to risk a million to get ten million by doing what amounts to rolling an 11-sided die getting 9:1 on their money. I wish they would ask another question to win 10 million, but only allow for a range of 3-5% or so.

the 10M question is neutral EV they should let you eliminate one of the possible answers than someone might go for it.

I saw this 2nite. I call BS that 50% of women have changed a flat tire. I guessed like 8%. Calling a tow truck is not changing a tire ladies.

$100,000 is guaranteed
I hate all these shows where everyone walks away with something I want to see someone come this close to winning 10M but end up leaving with nothing. Its the power of 10 so you should get 1/10th so $100,000 if you dont go for 10M and nothing if you go for it and miss. |

No game will be able to compare to Deal or No Deal. No strategy, just all luck and good timing. Its great to see someone have a 200k offer then go to $500. At least this show does not look as bad as The Chair.
