Default Flossing teeth: supposed to smell bad?

Is it normal that when you floss your teeth, that food you get out that is on the dental floss smells bad? Is that normal? Or is that only for people with bad breath?

By the way, I have all of my original teeth, try to floss daily, and brush 2 to 3 times a day. I visit the dentist twice a year for a cleanup.

Not abnormal. Also on the floss is plaque and bacteria, so you are smelling this too.

No it's not suppose to smell bad at all. There's something wrong with your breath. Any left over food stuck on your mouth should smell like roses when you floss them at the end of the day.

quoted for sarcasm. OP, the floss reaches hard to reach places and bacteria, that's why it smells.

My flossing doesn't smell, but every once in a while I cough up those tough little balls of mucus that stink really bad. Those things are amazing. The other day I sneezed and a MASSIVE chunk came flying out.

I was nervous when I first started getting them because I figured I had some deadly lung disease, but I researched it and they're called tonsil stones and they're just crap that gets trapped back in your tonsils.

The sniffing what you floss out of your teeth is not that bad. I say that because I will describe something every person on this board does every day that, in the grand scheme of things, is worse. Every person on this board, after dropping a deucer will, upon standing up from the toilet, turn back to look at the quality of said turd. How big was it? Did I leave skid marks? "As much as that thing hurt my butthole coming out it should be bigger around than that." "Oh look, it is kind of green, my diet of skittles and popcorn chicken is not serving my pooper well".

We all do that, every day.

I've never noticed anything bad-smelling coming out when I floss, but I don't sniff, so I'll defer to my fellow OOTers and say that bad smells are fairly standard.
