Default 100nl: AA 3-way

UTG is TAG, while the cold caller is a LAG fish who likes to bluff, and is calling a wide range preflop.

Blinds $.50/1
6 players.
UTG has $120
Hero has $100
BB has $450

Hero is dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on the button.

UTG raises to $4, 2 folds, Hero raises to $18, 1 fold, BB calls $17, UTG calls $14.

Flop (Pot $54.5) J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

BB checks, UTG checks, Hero does what and why?

checks behind, you don't want to get check raised here.

edit: free draw to the nuts, and no worse hand is calling a bet.

we have $100 and insane equity

im significantly underbetting the pot here in the hopes that a) we get c/r, or b) we can just get it all in on the turn.

maybe $34, then shove the rest in on a non-heart turn

Pokerstove gives us 42% equity against JJ and 41% against AT (which is a pretty unlikely folding). We've still got 33% if up against both.

This means that we should be ok with getting the money in even if we know we're behind (given the pot size and what's left in our stack).

The problem is that it will be way too [censored] obvious if we hit our hand.

No one is doubling us up if a T or a [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] hits the Turn. If the Turn is a blank, however, we are likely to see a PSB we can't call (since our equity goes to hell with only one card left).

Given our stack size and the pot size, I probably shove. We've got the mother of all draws, and we don't want to let them see a safe turn card before they commit.

Embrace the variance.

edit: If I don't shove, I bet tiny to induce a shove, but sometimes this backfires. Villain could call the tiny flop bet and shove a safe Turn card.

We actually only have 82$ after preflop action. That's not too much more than a PSB.

edit on Equity: Pokerstove puts us 58% over any 2 pair hand now, but it drops to 43% on a blank turn. They are likely calling a shove, and should be considered "worse" hands, at least on the flop.

We might even get looked up by AK or by TT with the T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (since he flopped one hell of a combo draw as well).

I like to bet just about pot on this flop. The way I see it, we have the best of both worlds. If aces are still good, they may as well be protected against hands like Tx or AK or something....if they're not good, it's still a damn big draw. 15 outs against a set....precisely the kind of draw that plays quite well on the flop.

Again, 15 outs against a set. We're only in bad shape against a flopped flush.
