Flushdraw turns top pair with top kicker in raised pot, 100NL
This is 0.5/1.0 (aka 100NL) on iPoker, 6 max, 5 players. Villian has about $60 stack, I cover.
Preflop: Villian (something like 45/3) limps, CO limps, I raise to $5.5 (probably a bit too little) in the BB with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Villian calls, rest fold. I read villian as a bad player. Flop ($13.5): T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I bet $9, villian calls. Turn ($31.5): J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I bet $16, villian calls. River ($63.5): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] I? (villian has about $30 left) Should I check call the river, hoping he is bluffing with missed diamonds or should I just push and hope he calls with what ever he has? Should I have pushed the turn instead hoping he would fold (although betting half pot for value seemed like a better idea, but I am always second guessing myself)? Maybe just check preflop? Maybe bet bigger on turn and put my money in on the river no matter what comes? |

Re: Flushdraw turns top pair with top kicker in raised pot, 100NL
I'd want to get the rest of his money in there on the river, or as much of it as I could. Based on his play and the very draw heavy board I think c/c or c/r would be the best way to do this. Give him a chance to bluff at it.

with a 45/3 i will bet more on the turn and put him all in on the river, since he is a pasive player and a check will not make him bluff the river

You played it fine. Shove the river. The only hands he won't call with are busted draws. Since you have two [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]s yourself, a flush draw makes up a smaller part of his range.

As played you really need to be betting more on the turn.
If you bet 12 on the flop a turn shove should then be ok. (i think) |
