Default Game Theory Books?

Can anyone suggest any good books on game theory? It would be helpful if it had a slant towards poker, but a math textbook is fine too I guess.

The Mathematics of Poker, by Bill Chen and Jerrod Ankenman. That's what you're looking for.

'Game theory and Economic Behavior' by Von Neumann and Morgenstern is where it all started.

Excellent question! I am wondering the same myself, however, I am more interested in qualitative game theory rather than quantitative. As in real-time it's cost prohibitive to even attempt any complex game theory questions. Vanessa Rousso supposedly uses game theory in her play, so maybe she can weigh in here. Also an undergraduate econ text for game theory may be a good place to start...

I just started "Poker Strategy, Winning with Game Theory" by Nesmith C Ankeny and will write a review in a day or so. It is an old book though (copyright 1981)...

I'm looking for it. I own that Ankeny book, and maybe will read it some day, or maybe not. Have you read MOP, so you can make some comparison? (very different books of course, but comparison in sense of applying GT to poker, like that game theory expert of Duke, Vanessa Rousso, always remembers to tell she does.)

I've read this book. It's a bit out-dated for the times and deals with 5-card draw...

Mathematics of Poker has some recommendations in the back for further reading on game theory.

This is a great site: http://www.math.ucla.edu/~tom/

I think it is Chris Ferguson's dad? I could be wrong on that. Anyway, under "Some Recent Papers" there are a few good articles on Poker Models (written by Chris Ferguson actually).

Also, further down on the page, there is a full Electronic text-book you can read. Good luck.
