6-Week Progress
First, a little backstory.
When I was in HS I was 6'1" and weighed 245. I was active in sports and overall was in good health. After HS I stopped eating right, stopped excercising, and really got lazy. I graduated HS in 2003 so it's been 4 years since I've been on a regular diet or workout program. So in June I decided to join 24 Hour Fitness and get myself a personal trainer. Here are my measurements taken my first day: Date: June 14, 2007 Weight: 303 % Body Fat: 48.1 Fat Mass: 145.74 Lean Body Mass: 157.28 Neck: 16.25" Upper Arm: 16.75" Forearm: 12.75" Chest: 46" Waist: 50" Hip: 53.5" Thigh: 26.76 Calf: 18" I was a pretty big fatass. After 6 weeks of being on a regular diet, working out with my trainer 2 days a week, and doing cardio excercises 2 days a week, here are my new numbers with the difference Date: August 6, 2007 Weight: 293 -10 % Body Fat: 37.5 -10.5 Fat Mass: 110 -35 Lean Body Mass: 183 +26 Neck: 15.75" -.5 Upper Arm: 15.25" -1.5" Forearm: 12" -.75" Chest: 42" - 4" Waist: 43" - 7" Hip: 50" -3.5" Thigh: 25.75" -1" Calf: 17.5 -.5" So basically I lost 35 lbs. of fat, added 25 lbs. of muscle, and have lost quite a few inches in the mid section, which is what I'm most happy about. My shorts and pants don't fit anymore. Ive resorted to wearing a belt I haven't worn since HS. That was a good feeling when that thing fit. In the next few weeks I'm going to have to go out and get some new clothes. What do you guys think of my results so far? Are they about average? Better than average? Less than average? My friends, family, and coworkers have definately noticed the change and have been very helpfull in my journey to get back into shape. As far as supplements go the only thing I take are a 3x daily performance multivitamin that I bought at 24 Hr. Other than that I drink a lot of water. Haha. |

Re: 6-Week Progress
That's awesome. Keep up the good work. I'm going to bite my tongue as far as some of the stats. The important thing is that the transformation you see in the mirror and that your friends and family are seeing is real.

Re: 6-Week Progress
I believe some trainers are intentionally a bit sloppy during the initial interview. It helps them make the case for training, and makes it easier for them to show progress. An example is taking one or more of the pinch test measurements over your clothes.
That is not to say that you didn't need some help and that you haven't made remarkable progress-- and congrats on that. And keep up the good work. |

[/ QUOTE ] The trainer that originally took my measurements, and the trainer that I work out with twice a week are two different people. Nevertheless, I look better, I feel better, and my clothes don't fit. I'm happy with the progress I've made so far. And I look forward to another few months of weight loss. |

Re: 6-Week Progress
Nothing too earth-shattering. Just remember that when you first start there are going to be days you just don't feel like going. And when you do go you're not going to want to put in a good workout. It's those days you can really dig down deep and find out who you are and what you're really made of, fat rolls not withstanding.
