Default hand from 5-10 game at Tulalip

6 handed. the game is not no limit, max bet 500 with 3 raises, so almost NL. theres a tard in the main game that has about 7k in front that is trying to give it away so im waiting for that game. while waiting i came across this hand. ive been playing pretty lag so far at the table and im pretty sure noone has played with me before.

preflop:
2 limps, i raise to 40 OTB with AJ. 1 limper calls.

flop: A23 , 2 diamonds. i have never played with the guy but hes kind of lag and has about 700 after the flop, i have about the same.

ive been betting pot a lot in previous hands so i contiune with 100$ bet. he check raises me to 300. i think about it for a while and call.

turn: off suit king. he checks i insta check behind

river: 4, he instantly goes all in for 400ish

i kind of thought he was making a play on the flop with a hand with close to no outs. i am kind of new to NL against players with brains so Im not sure if its common to get stacked in this type of situation wtih AJ

You don't stack every time you flop the ace; but with pf/flop/turn action this can only be diamonds or a random bluff from a thinking player.

There's no way he checks the turn and gives you a free card for a flush with a set/straight/two pair. If he did then he's extremely exploitable so adjust accordingly.

All that being said, bet the turn next time.
