Default Tough JJ hand

Villain is LanderD, a solid 23/20 TAG on stars. I don't have much info on him, but I believe hes one of the top MSNL regs on the site.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $4 BB (5 handed) internettexasholdem.com

Hero ($574.30)
MP ($390.50)
Button ($674.80)
SB ($807)
BB ($404)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $14</font>, MP calls $14, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>.

Flop: ($34) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $24</font>, MP calls $24.

Turn: ($82) 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $56</font>, MP calls $56.

River: ($194) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $160</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP raises to $296.5</font>, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $650.50

He literally snap shoved the river here. He's got to put me on an overpair or KT at the least, no? OTOH, I'm getting 4-1

I probably call because his line doesn't make sense for anything.

This is a must call barring any 'shadyness' going on.

It is 5-1 you are getting also. $136.50 to win $650.50

You should never be b/f with these stack sizes and this board.

It's 4-1, converter is just weird. Final pot was $512. Is b/f really that bad? I mean a bet seems EV+, but once he shoves, a call seems EV-

I think it's a close fold. Your hand looks like exactly what it is, and there's no way he can expect you to fold an overpair with that little money behind on the river, so I think the chances of him bluffing are extremely low.

99 makes the most sense for him, although he could have slowplayed TT, 88 or A2s as well. I can't really think of a hand that he would peel two streets with here and then suddenly decide to turn into a bluff on the river.

Since some do not like bet folding, is there merit to check calling the river?
