IMHO, betting the turn or checking behind for pot control should depend on the aquatic nature of the villain than the board, if the villain is not unknown.

hmm, when is it time to check turn to get some value out of medium hands on the river. Wouldn't betting the turn fold out the hands I beat but get called by hands that beat me?
This is a bad opponent to use this logic on though, but against a TAG?
