CP 8/16 - I build a pot with JTo
I related this hand to a good player and he didn't like my river bet. Interested in other thoughts.
Scene is your typical Friday night crazy LAG game at the Canterbury. Straddles are the norm, as are multi-street bluffs and players trying to pick off said bluffs by calling down with 3rd or 4th pair. There is only one other tough spot at the table and he isn't involved in this hand. UTG+1 in this hand is Mike, middle aged regular (that is an understatement) who wears reflective sunglasses and a hat. He is overly loose, but typically aggressive post flop. He does slightly better than the average awful player at maximizing hands post-flop. MP is an Asian LAG who is also a regular. He is terrible, waaay loose and has a tendency to call down with any piece of the board. Don't know his name, but he has a big forehead, slightly buckteeth and is friends with Anthony. On to the hand. Loose passive kid limps UTG, Mike limps UTG+1, MP raises, button cold calls, SB calls, I call in the BB with J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], others call. Flop is 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I bet, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, MP raises, button folds, I 3 bet, UTG now folds, UTG+1 calls and MP calls. Turn 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I bet, call, call. River Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. I bet...? Appreciate thoughts on all streets, but mainly interested in the value of the river bet. |

there's no way i check the river. i wouldn't think anybody filled up from the action. if somebody went running flush; good for them.

Everything here is very standard and I cant imagine why you wouldnt bet the river.

There are so many ways for people to be drawing to 3 outs for a chop/almost dead and very willing to put money into the pot that we may as well be the first one to bet and let them take a whirl on Mr Toad's Wild Ride. |

Re: CP 8/16 - I build a pot with JTo
I thought the river bet was pretty standard here too.
As for the flop donk, I think that it is a great way to a) trap the players in between and b) 3 bet when MP raises. The texture of the game was such that my bet on the flop was getting raised nearly every time. So I am still able to face the EP players with 2 bets, as a CR would, but I get more money in at the same time. Fastplaying is the new slow playing. Ben, thanks for your feedback. Understand your points about the limits, but prefer the feedback from the MS crowd. Am OK if PJ wants to move these. |
