With MP3 raising the flop, he probably has something worthwhile. I think there is a decent chance he'll bet the river scoring you an extra bet if you calls your check/raise (or costing you two more if he has AJ). But against an unknown, I have no problems donking the river to make sure a bet goes in.
Nice hand. |

The board pairing is not good but not that bad since it's the J. U have enough over lay to continue.

I check the flop. It's probably going to get bet for you, which will give you the option to raise for value or just call and not force anyone out. The rest is fine. Donking the river is ok because he might well check behind.

I check the flop, too. That's a board that almost certainly hit someone, but it may have missed the other two.

This is good, but what is your plan if he raises the river?

I check the flop, too. [/ QUOTE ] Check the flop? That never even occured to me. I'm pre-wired to bet flush draws with no pfr. Under what circumstances is checking the best plan? OP, I like a river c/r here. I think MP is likely to keep on betting based on his action so far. |

[/ QUOTE ] You check the flop here partly to avoid exactly what happened in this hand. There's a good chance that someone is going to have a strong enough hand to bet and raise this board. Checking gives Hero the opportunity to raise for value if for example MP1 bets and everyone calls. Alternatively, he can just call if he doesn't have an equity edge and get paid off big if he hits his draw. As played, Hero's bet was -EV as he ending up putting in 50% of the money with a draw that only has a 35% chance of hitting. |

I really don't know what you could have done differently. I probably would have played exactly the same most likely. If ya get beat by the boat, ya get beat. I mean, maybe you lay it down when he reraises on the flop? But most likely you're gonna get paid off when you outdraw him on the turn or river. |
