FTP $24+2 28k Guar. 88 in the BB
Full Tilt Poker
No Limit Holdem Tournament Blinds: t1200/t2400 (Ante: t300) 8 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: t130489 UTG+1: t34058 MP1: t41696 MP2: t30285 CO: t42118 Button: t14100 SB: t61540 Hero: t36411 Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG calls t2400 (pot was t6000), UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls t2400 (pot was t8400), 4 folds, 4 folds, Hero??? With 41 left, my stack was 24th. No read on MP1, I just moved to this table but know UTG from earlier. UTG was 2nd in chips. Big calling station, but mostly to see flops. Didn't call many big/medium all ins, but loved to see flops. And turns and rivers for that matter. |

Im shoving all day long, 8400 chips is enough to make the push worth it, I dont really see how there is another option.

I like a shove here. It's unlikely that either player has a pair bigger than yours and you're likely to get called by hand that dominate you or one that is slightly behind.
Checking from BB would be okay if there were more limpers in the pot to give you good odds to play for set value. |

Re: FTP $24+2 28k Guar. 88 in the BB
If a couple situations were different here (say if UTG wasn't the chipleader, or your M was a little bit higher), I'd say a slightly larger than normal raise would be best, but in this situation a shove is probably best. If you figure that 20% of the time UTG calls because he's the big stack and he can do that with less impunity, then the MP player will be getting incredible odds if he has any sort of hand. While that probably puts you you at roughly 25%-30% to win, when you do you'll triple up and become one of the chip leaders. The other 80% of the time, when UTG folds, MP won't be getting good enough odds to put his tournament life at stake on a hand that wasn't good enough to reraise in the first place. So, like I said, easy push.
