Default Poker Vacation. Where and when would you go?

One of these days I will have a couple of weeks off and was planning on doing a poker vacation. Probably in late December. I was thinking Vegas of course but I don't know if that would be the best time of year to go? I hear it is dead other than on New Years. And even then maybe no poker action. How about the Caribbean? Other than WSOP and March Madness when is a good time for Vegas poker. Could I get a relatively inexpensive vacation rental at any of these places. I doubt a place like foxwoods or AC would be good for this type of trip.

Have any of you gone away for a few weeks and played poker all the time? Where did you go? What did you do? Any advice for me?

The only area I can pitch would be AC. The good - its got a couple large rooms with a huge range of games. It is offpeak tourist season (ergo cheaper lodging), but the games are always around because they are locals-heavy.

WSOP Circuit is in town early-mid December IIRC.

Why would you NOT want to go to Vegas? Tons of games to choose from, lots of other stuff to do.

As for the Caribbean, I'm not even sure how much poker there is there. Definitely none in the Bahamas except the week of the PCA.

Speaking of which, anyone ever do a poker cruise? Is it worth it?

On your first visit to Vegas you would have no idea if it were a busy time or not. It would just seem insanely busy to you.

Vegas is a no brainer but keep Tunica in mind. Chicago could be okay also.
